VALLEY OF BARRIE TUTORING IN BARRIE & MUSKOKA
Tutors and administrative staff are all volunteers. Training and support are provided to ensure the various individuals have all the necessary tools to fulfill their role within the Centre.
The Learning Centre is accepting applications for tutors who wish to volunteer a few hours each week. We provide in house training of the Orton-Gillingham Approach. Our in-house certified tutor trainers provide continual support and mentorship. There is also the opportunity to obtain Certification as an Orton-Gillingham tutor.
Tutors will apply the Orton-Gillingham Approach in their lessons with the children. The Learning Centre uses one-to-one tutoring with trained and certified tutors. Each tutoring session is one-hour in length, twice per week. Our Centre follows the school calendar. Children will generally require a period of three years to complete the entire program. A Graduation Ceremony for the children is held in October.
This is an ideal opportunity for men and women who have previous experience in working with children or in social services.
All training and other professional development opportunities are provided free of charge. We appreciate the time and effort our tutors take to enrich each child’s life.
The Learning Centre has a proven record of success of opening doors of wonder and opportunity for its graduates.
Can you help? Will you help?
Volunteers are the heart and soul of our success! By volunteering you will fulfill a vital role in improving the lives of our children as well as assisting the wonderful work of the Learning Centre. Our volunteers assist us by performing tasks like monitoring lessons and centre areas via video surveillance, greeting parents/guardians and children, assisting tutors with administrative tasks, etc.
The Learning Centre is seeking community leaders who are able to exemplify the Learning Centre’s values of inclusion, compassion, education and youth development. You will provide a warm, welcoming and nurturing environment for the children, families, tutors and administrative personnel.
THE LEARNING CENTRE ALWAYS WELCOMES VOLUNTEERS
